just got a M&P 45 today and i was just looking for some useful info. this is my first handgun purchase (by far not my first time using)
mainly looking for home defense tips, loads, recommended ammo, anything lik quirks and such.
thank you in advance

as far as ammo goes your pistol will decide what it likes best. buy a few boxes of 50 of whatever you like and run it through your gun. if it likes it and you like it then keep it up.

my springer 1911 isnt very picky. i run winchester, remington, PMC, and independence through it with out any malfunctions.

as far as HD tips, there is a section on the site called "strategies and tactics" that has a lot of good information.

i have always ran 230 grain rounds through my .45 acp but for plinking you may opt for lighter loads.

hopefully you wont run into any quirks :D

The M&P is an excellent .45ACP and has superior ergos to keep recoil and muzzle flip in check.

Try the different sized grips to find which you like best. Hint: better a bit small than a bit large. It isn't about filling your hand, it is about allowing a comfortable grip on the frame.

It has been a while since I've felt a stock M&P, most of the one's I've handled lately have had the Apex Tactical action parts installed, but I remember the last one pointing well and being very shootable.

I would recommend starting your ammo search with the 230gr slugs (I prefer Ranger JHPs) and not even venturing into the +P loadings (no sense in battering yourself or the gun). I shoot a lot of CCI Blazer 230gr FMJ as range ammo...because it is cheap and clean

Start reading the reloading forum. .45 is great fun but it ain't cheap to shoot a lot of. Once your hooked and setup get a real .45, a 1911 :neener:.

M&p 45

Mine would not group the Hornady 230 gr TAP +P or Rem Golden Saber 185gr +P well. For accuracy mine liked most of the standard velocity 230grain ammo. As far a function, it has been flawless with everything so far. Hope that helps, Great Gun!

If the .45 is anything like the 9mm version, it will eat just about anything.
You bought a nice pistol, good luck with it.
