Try doing a search. I've read some things here and there about them..
The word is that they have had QC issues in their past production guns, but any of the recently manufactured guns are supposed to be good guns. I don't have any personal experience with them. I'm just repeating what I've read before.
Thompson has had a pretty spotty reputation over the years. I've heard of lots of QC problems with them. However, since being bought by Kahr arms QC has suposedly gotten much better.
For some good knowledgable feedback you may want to ask over at
I've owned 2 since Kahr bought Thompson and fondled several others. It's still hit and miss IMO. The WWII model I had shot well, but wasn't put together that well, ie, loose front sight, plunger tube, slide to frame fit. The Deluxe model I owned was put together better. The ones I've handled since then have had similar fit issues. Nothing really major, just sloppy pistolsmithing. If they offer a compact, I might just look into that and see if these are built better. I would love to give business to an American gunmaker making a good 1911 at an affordable price.
