I bought a new kahr cw9. I noticed that the last round in the magazine gets stuck when shooting. I fire the first seven rounds no problem, and then when I squeeze the trigger on the last round nothing happens. I then pull the trigger again and I feel more pressure on the trigger and the last round fires. Sometimes I have to pull the trigger a few times until I can feel the pressure on the trigger and know it will fire the last round. It only happens on the last round in the magazine.
I bought this gun new, and I have put at least 500 rounds through it. This has been happening the entire time I have owned it. Anybody else have this problem? It's kind of annoying.:banghead:

it sounds like as the last round is chambered, the slide slows down, possibly from friction from the mag follower, and is not fully into battery.
Either way sounds like it should go back to kahr.

How many rounds have you put through it?

I've got a PM9. I was really upset when I first got it (new). One FTF after another.
I called Kahr and was told that I needed to put 200-300 rounds through it to break it in. I didn't like it much, but I did as they said. The result: about 1000 failure free rds since that time.
Maybe your CW9 is experiencing the same hiccups.

I had a very similar problem with my CW9, however it happen to me about every single round. I sent the pistol back to kahr. They said they could find nothing wrong with it. When I got it back it worked flawlessly. I have since put about 150 rounds threw it and no problems.

give it the needed 200 rounds. lube the slide rails with a good gun grease. You can also rack the slide about 500 times without any magazine in and this helps break in without the bang and cost. I think it justneeds more rounds down range.

It IMO is magazine related and not gun related. So if it keeps doing that after 200 rounds callkahr and ahve them send you a new magazine spring, or maybe a new magazine...can't hurt to ask???

It IMO is magazine related and not gun related.

I don't know, jocko. The round makes into the chamber so it sounds like it's feeding OK. It sound like the striker isn't re-setting? But why does the striker reset and fire the first 7 rounds? Is there something going on that is slowing the last round's loading and the slide isn't going into battery? Is the slide all of the way closed? If not, it won't fire. Perhaps multiple pulls of the trigger are causing the slide to return to battery?

It would seem that, after 500 round, that the pistol should be broken in. I would suggest disassembling the slide and checking the striker "tunnel" for debris. I've found small, copper flakes both times I took my slide apart although I wasn't having any problems. (I have 1,138 trouble free rounds through my CW.) I'd also disassemble the mag and make sure it's clean. Don't lube the mag.

If you disassemble the slide, be careful of "wayward springs and plungers". Make sure you do this with eye protection and in an area where you can find parts if things go wrong. The plunger rod for the extractor can get away from you. (Thank goodness I had a sheet covering the 4, five gallon buckets of wheel weights:rolleyes:)

One thing not mentioned was the ammo used. sonogy47, have you tried different makes of ammo or reloads?

yup

I missed the 500 round thing, it is indeed broken in with rounds. I am assuming the recoil spinrg is put on properly with the open end towards the front of the slide.

He can clean that striker channel without taking the slide apart, buy just inserting a spray nozzle in that little hole on the bottom of the slide and then just spraying away. Fluids will come out of both ends and it will be clean.

Update on my Kahr

I have only used winchester white box fmj and jhp, and also a few federal hydrashoks.
When I pull the trigger on the last round, the trigger feels loose, and it won't fire. Then when I pull the trigger one or two more times I can feel the pressure on the trigger and it will fire the last round.
I also tried slapping the bottom of the magazine, and that seems to get it working on the last round.
I bought an extra 8 round magazine and it has the same results as the original 7 round mag.
Thanks for your suggestions fellas.

Are you sure the slide is going completely into battery on that last round? The "hood" or ledge at the rear of the barrel, where it meets the edge of the ejection port, is nearly flush with the top of the slide when in full battery. If the slide is far enough rearward (about 3/16 of an inch) and the barrel starts to unlock even slightly (putting the barrel "hood" slightly below flush), the trigger will become disconnected. You can see this for yourself if you pinch the slide back a little bit (unloaded gun, of course.)

I also tried slapping the bottom of the magazine, and that seems to get it working on the last round.

This is further suggestive of not returning to full battery. When you slap the magazine you are in effect jarring the slide loose.

If your CW9 is anything like my PM9 (the gun I used for the above experiment), it likes to be run "wet" with lubrication. I actually use a light grease on the slide rails so it stays put without frequent reapplication. Don't forget the thin steel rails on the inside of the frame "dust cover."

IF

all the suggestins you have been given fail. then it has to be a bad trigger bar, nothing else it could be.

It will have to go back to kahr for replacement. A defective trigger bar will cause the issues that you are having.

If what the lone Haranger is telling u, is indeed happening. get anew set of recoil springs and you will be good to go
