Recently I replaced my Kel Tec P3AT with a Kel Tec PF9 to be my main warm weather EDC. After replacing the extractor and extractor spring KT sent me this little pistol has been utterly flawless. :)

Being a firm believer in "one is none, two is one" and the PF9 reputation of going down I went to a gun show yesterday in hope of acquiring a second PF9. Not seeing one I have seen at the same show priced around $240 (they were running $279 to $329 yesterday) I was getting disgruntled. I figured I'd just order one from Cheaper Than Dirt. I figured I'd spend around $260 after shipping and FFL transfer fees were included.

I walked around some and a Star Firestar single stack 9mm caught my eye. Really nice gun but asking price was $355 and I wanted it for $300. The owner would only come down $10 so I walked away. Too much for a pistol that isn't made anymore and SA only regardless how nice it is.

Walked around some more and came across a Kahr CW9 with two mags, a Hogue slip on grip put on, and all paperwork and carrying case with it. Several people showed interest but no one purchased it. I handled it and it felt good. But I walked away twice mulling it over in my brain. The guy wanted $375 for it and I didn't want to spend that much (tight wad I guess ) Finally my wife said to just go get it (I got a helluva Lady :D) because later I'd regret it if I didn't. So I bit the bullet. I got it for $360. The owner said it had 200 rounds through it so it was already broken in.

For the record Kahr pistols didn't ever endure themselves to me. Hammerless striker fired pistols never did (although the Walther PPQ has certainly piqued my interest). Plus I thought they were always kind of ugly.

I broke it down. It was clean but I did relube it to my satisfaction and took it out for a test run. I put FMJs and HPs weighted 115 gr., 124 gr., and 147 gr. through it (90 total) from various manufacturers without one problem :):):) The CW9 shot for me accurately with very manageable recoil. This gun isn't so ugly after all!

I know I will put more rounds down range to fully trust it but for now color me very, very impressed! If this pistol continues this way guess which one will be my primary warm weather EDC. ;)

I have three of their all-stainless pistols and find them to be well designed, extremely reliable and very accurate. I think you made a good decision.

I had to chuckle because I thought excatly as Ledgehamer. I own both and while I like Kel-Tecs the Kahr IMO is a step up. Shoot it and enjoy it.

The only gripe I have with the CW series is when you reassemble it be sure to catch the little spring with the lip of your slide stop otherwise you turn a perfectly good semi auto into a single shot. If it is a carry weapon I'd recommend cleaning at the range and firing a round or two after reassembly.

I carried a dog ugly but functional pf-9 for 2 1/2 years. Good ungly pistol. Bought a junk, the owner said, kahr cw9 from some guy. Cleaned it up ,lube it and ran 600 rounds that week thru it. Liked it enough to buy a cm9 to after learning about it, cleaned lubed and ran 600 thru it. Sold the pf-9 . Not a single problem with ether. Way easier to shot and control than the pf-9.

The Kahr CW9 was my first handgun purchase as well as my EDC for about nine months before I was converted to the Glock cult. I still shoot it regularly and have had exactly one malfunction of any kind, and that was on the first mag ever put through it. I love the ergonomics and still find myself carrying it when wardrobe won't allow for the 19. I've traded the gun three times to friends and always ended up begging for it back. Congrats on your purchase, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

You own a pf9 and think that a kahr is ugly? To each their own I guess...

Yeh, that caught my eye too. I own 3 Kahrs. All three are reliable, accurate and I might say quite handsome.

Kahr makes great guns. When it comes to single stack concealment guns it's my choice. I have a PM9 and I love it.

Best DAO trigger I've ever experienced. They are far from ugly IMO, unless you don't like stainless.

Yeah, I don't exactly think the PF9 fell outta the ugly tree, but my PM9 is one good-looking little pistol. And my MK40 with wood grips..., well it's Scarlett Johansson in stainless.

I have two CW9s---one for me, one for the wife---both have proven themselves reliable and accurate---really nothing more to say...

I have had a cw9, a cw45, and a pm9 all excellent guns, but the problem I have is that the spare mags keep dumping rounds in my pocket or my spare mag holder(I have tried several different mag holders). If I could find someone who can tell me how to fix this I would buy a few new Kahr pistols.

I've had a CW9 myself for about 3 years now. Love it! Very easy to conceal and comfortable to carry around. I DO NOT like how rounds tend to get pushed out of the spare mags, however. I shoot mine best with 124gr +P Golden Sabers, the things shoots 'em like a laser.

My K40 is my ideal carry pistol. Every time I think of trading it for something lighter, or with higher capacity I just hold it in my hand, admire the craftsmanship, the way it points naturally for me, etc... and then kick myself in the butt for even thinking about trading it.

That gun, in a Mitch Rosen OWB holster, on my gunbelt just plain vanishes under just a t-shirt.

Do they come out of the top or bottom of the mag?

I'm going to assume the top. I always carry at least one spare mag for my PM9 in a desantis nemesis pocket holster and have never had this problem. As long as they are seated properly I've never had one work itself out from the grasp of the feed lips.

it is like they are being stripped off the top like they would normally when the gun is being cycled

What kind of mag holster are you using?

They make kydex mag holsters, that ought to be enough to keep your leg friction, or whatever, from knocking the rounds loose. Do you keep extra stuff in the pocket with the mag?

Have tried 3 different mag holders, one was a galco leather belt pouch, the other was a kydex blackhawk(this was the worst, the round that came out jammed it up and i had to take it off my belt and pull the mag out with both hands), the third was just carrying it in a blackhawk pocket holster. All of these ways dump the rounds out of the mag. Also it happened with 3 different mags. 2 seven round 9mm, and a 6 round 45 mag.

Nothing but good things to say about my PM9... So much so that I bought a p380 too.

I bought a Kahr CM9 about 3 months ago, and have put close to 1000 rds through it without any hiccup of any kind! LOVIN it!!

Kahr CM9 and PM40, excellent pistols, the PM40 is a handful, however. Great defensive gun, not so fun after 30 rounds at the range. CM9 is perfect, even at the range.
