I'm looking at the basic stainless K9 model, the K9093, as part of a trade.

I've been planning on getting a K9 but was looking at either the Elite 2003 (K9098) or the matte blackened stainless steel (K9094).

The Kahr website doesn't contain much information describing the differences.

Do any of you guys have any additional knowledge?

Does the basic stainless model come with the "elite" trigger? I had heard that all current Kahr's come with the "elite" trigger but that comment may have been made with respect to the polymer models.

Thanks,
ddc.

The basic Kahr does NOT have the Elite trigger. The Elite 98, Elite 2003, and the polymer framed versions do though.

The basic Kahr, in matte stainless steel, as compared to an Elite 2003 model will be lacking : Elite trigger (slightly shorter and slightly heavier pull than standard model), highly polished exterior, beveled mag well, beveled edges.

Personally, I kinda like the standard model better, since I don't care for the bright polishing, the trigger pull is a little lighter, albeit a little longer, the beveled mag well is close to irrelevant for me, and the beveled edges are even closer to irrelevant, since I DO carry the gun in a holster, in which the edges are covered. If the lack of beveling bothers you, a Dremel does wonders. Heck, a Dremel can even polish up the exterior for you too. Plus, the trigger parts ARE replaceable.

Ok, this website is really starting to annoy me. I post a simple question on this board and it takes almost 15 minutes to get a detailed, complete, and apparently unbiased and, hopefully I'm not jumping to conclusions here… an apparently rather knowledgeable response from someone who has "been there".

Come on people! Let's get with the program! If you can't answer my question in less than 5 minutes then don't even bother!

……

Ok, for the humor impaired, that was completely tongue-in-cheek. I've learned the hard way that my sense of humor doesn't appeal to everyone.

deercop: Thank you very much. That was EXACTLY what I was looking for.(and thanks to anybody else who has answered my questions over the past several years)

PS: but work on your response time, ok? :neener:

I have two Kahr K-9s and I happen to love the trigger. I have not yet fired an Elite trigger to compare it to but it could only be icing on an already sweet cake. The standard trigger is quite nice. After a few hundred rounds of break in and dry firing, you should clean the trigger parts and add oil. You will probably see a marked improvement.

Kahr sells the Elite trigger parts for not much money. In a carry gun, the matte finish is going to be less likly to show small scratches so it seems like a better choice for CCW. Kahr are tight when new so break in is a must. I also highly recomend getting the feedramp and chamber polished or doing it yourself if you know how.

If you are thinking of getting a Kahr, I would jump on it. After I got my first Kahr, I was hooked. No other guns fits me like a K-9. The trigger takes some getting used to but it is worth the time because surprising accuracy can be achived in both slow fire and rapid if you do you part. It is never going to be as fast as a 1911 but it will be as fast as any revolver. Basically, if it fits your hand, you should love shooting it. The only problems I have heard with them is that they are too small or the trigger reach is too close for some shooters. If it fits your hand and you can master the trigger, I can't imagine you not loving it.

I bought a K9 for my girlfriend for Christmas and we both love it. It is the standard matte stainless model, and as albanian noted, the trigger is truly sweet. I have not handled an Elite model, so I can't comment as to the difference.

My girlfriend was getting a little pissed about how much I was carrying her Christmas present, so she bought me the K40 in stainless with the Black Diamond coating. The recoil is not bad at all, in fact it is quite fun to shoot.

Kahr's have one of the most comfortable grips of any gun I have ever handled. What impresses me most is how they feel good to almost everyone, regardless of hand size. I have large hands, and I shoot my double stack Kimber .45 with no problem. My girlfriend on the other hand has such small hands that we have had considerable trouble finding an auto that is comfortable for her to shoot. The Kahr feels great to both of us. Add to that the fact that they are very well made, very reliable, and surprisingly accurate, and you have one hell of a nice little firearm. Highly reccomended.
