Did some trading this weekend and would up with a Kahr E9. This is the all steel economy version of the K9. Mine has a stainless slide and black frame and is a good looking pistol. Grabbed it and my Sig P6 and off to the range I went. The little Kahr was comfortable to shoot and it certainly was more accurate than the shooter. I haven't shot a gun this small in a long time so it took a bit of time and ammo to get used to the short sight radius. All in all I'm very pleased with it.

I've read quite a bit about some P6s not liking hollow point ammo. I was very happy when I ran a box of Gold Dot +P 124 through my P6 with no problems at all. Also shot some old Winchester hollow points I had laying around without incident as well. I guess I got lucky and got a P6 that doesn't choke on HP ammo...

Sounds like you got a P6 with the newer barrel. My 97 P6 has likewise fed JHP's just fine. The older guns have a barrel with a more squarish feed ramp that tends to cause issues with the hollowpoints.

What'd you think of the DA pull on the P6?

It's not bad and considering it's just for the first shot no problem as far as I'm concerned. Overall I really like the P6 and I really enjoy shooting it...

First I have heard of the P6 feeding issues. Have to some research was ready to pull the trigger on one Friday. Appreciate the report.

Two-tone? I ask because mine is all black and was not aware that the slide is stainless steel.

Although not one of my most heavily used guns, I've had my E9 since 1999. I did have to send it back once for the front sight shooting off and getting beaned by ejected cases, but they repaired it promptly. The front sight is plastic and is merely staked on through two little holes in the slide instead of the K9's dovetail, so you will probably not be able to change sights. Fortunately, the sight picture - copied from SIG - is as good as it gets in a non-night sight. Lately it has developed some slide locking issues, but this does not affect actual shooting. This gun fits my hand and points perfectly.

From what the fella told me, Kahr sometimes does runs with spare parts. The gun is circa 2003 and is two tone with stainless slide. Once I get more used to the short sight radius I think this may become a favorite...

NGIB, congrats on your E9! I have one too, i bought used back in 2003, it was about 4-6 months old when i bought it, so i guess mine is from the same year.

I love my E9. It was my first pistol and first gun and since then ive also bought a pm9 and a glock 30. I still shoot the E9 the best. You are right about it being more accurate than the shooter. Its amazing how i can be at the range with the pm9 and glock and plink exactly what im aiming at a few times, then whip out the E9 and ping! ping! ping! ping! ping! ping! ping! ping! all without even trying it seems.

I love this little gun. You made a good trade. Mine is also black frame (wearing off on the front of the grip) with a matte stainless slide.
