Kahr PM 9 vs. Kahr MK9

Stinger, I own and carry a P9. Their steel guns are quite heavy for their size. So, if I HAD to choose between the PM9 and the MK9 for daily, all day carry, I'd choose the polymer. But I also believe that the farther away from the initial design of the gun, the more problems you will have with it. The Kahr's were originally steel a size up from the M guns, in 9mm. So I would also make sure the gun in question was unquestionably reliable with the load I was carrying in it.
When I checked out MK9 it is heavy. It feels good fits great in hand but for carry it is heavy. It is a well made gun.
As far as loads you can try out Corbon Power Ball.

I love the poly kahrs, i have the cm9 and the p380. Cm9 has been 100% from day one. On the flip side my p380 will only realiably cycle premium sd ammo.

My CM9 came with a broken follower - but the way the ramp broke it, it just punched a semi-circle out of the front of it and it and the mag still worked fine.

It is kind of funny that Kahr test-fired the gun at the factory and the test firing knocked a piece off the follower and they never caught it.

I never had FTF with those mags but I sent the gun in anyway and they did a rampectomy on it and gave me new followers.

I Don't recognize that.

Doesn't it weight just as much or almost just as much as a M&P Shield and 9c and the Glock 26 & 19? All of them are between 19 and 24 oz.

The only gun I have handled among the ones you listed is the Glock 19 and that has a nice feel though it is a larger pistol. It feels good but not as good as the MK9.

I didn't mention it before, but in addition to the P380 which I had a couple minor issues with, I also had a MK9, PM9, and P9.

I found them all to be decent guns, reliable and accurate, but would give the edge to the MK9, even with the extra weight. It just seemed to be a better quality gun and didn't have as many potential issues as the poly guns.

MK9 is the most expensive over the PM series.

So when it comes down to it the sole purpose of the PM9 is carry and conceal because of its light weight and size.
What is the sole purpose of the MK9?

The MK9 and PM9 are the same size, difference is weight. The MK9 was one of the smallest 9mms when it came out and is still capable of filling the role of a CCW gun quite nicely.

The extra weight is a trade off. Maybe not as nice for pocket carry, but a bit less recoil.

The steel guns are more expensive, as noted. It's up to you if they are worth it or not.

The Mk9 is a nice option. The CCW craze has left us with tons of lightweight guns. but shooting them can be a pain, especially for some women.

Also check out the Kahr K9 and P9.

I'll never understand why Sig got so popular, but not much love for the similar K9:

I didn't find the recoil on the PM 9 bad. It is an accurate little gun.
The steel guns will last longer than the polymer guns or have less problems?

Most people don't put enough rounds through a gun to wear it out, so longevity shouldn't be an issue.

Most of the issues with Kahr guns seem to be with the polymer frame versions, but that is not to say that they ALL have them, most run just fine.

You're sounding like you want the PM9. Go for it.

The MK9 may not be a pocket carry pistol, but for IWB it is still small, unobtrusive and easy to carry.

I have heard issues with the magazines but that maybe with all Kahr's?

Why would things have changed? The two guns are exactly the same as they were 7 years ago.

Kahr did a design change to the PM9 right when the CM9 came out. Today, CM9s and PM9s that come off the line are the same size, but older PM9s were smaller.
