Got a friend who just bought a new Kahr Stainless .40 cal and also bought a new Glock 27. Watched him shoot both at the range yesterday and he was about 50% more accurate with the Glock. Groups were much, much smaller! Question is for those who have both or have shot both is the Kahr capable of shooting with the Glock? I was think about buying one of the polymer Kahr 9mm's myself but am now wondering if I might be happier with a Glock 26.

If your friend had never fired a Kahr before the one he bought, I'm going to guess that the accuracy difference can be attributed to the Kahr trigger. It's definitely much different than any other type of semi-auto trigger I've ever come across, and takes some getting used to. Generally speaking, Kahrs can certainly shoot with Glocks. It just takes a little more practice for it to happen.

With no offense intended to your buddy I think the difference is more in the shooter than the gun (but with good reason). I have a Kahr subcompact and two Glock compacts myself and am also notably more accurate with the Glocks. The Kahr remember has a "real" DAO trigger - a longer and heavier pull than the Glock action. For those people (me very much included) who have not put in serious trigger time with revolvers or other long DAOs, accuracy will suffer. Practice conquers all of course, but with so many excellent SA choices available, I have decided not to worry much beyond CCW- level/distance accuracy with DAOs myself.

Of course if your buddy is a practiced DA shooter then who knows? I suppose the sight radius and barrel length being shorter would have a slight impact, but normally hardly noticeable at most normal handgun range distances.

As far as your quandary goes the Kahr is much much smaller and more concealable than the G26. Forget dimensions - just overall bulk. My PM9 looks like a wallet in my pocket. G26 wouldn't do that. I would be willing to bet most people ARE more accurate with G26s so if that's your criterion go for it - fine guns. But for real concealability Kahr will definitely win. I am acceptably (but not much more) accurate with my Kahr - but the limit is with me for sure.

I bought one of the first K-9's, about 9 years ago or so. It would punch one-hole groups at 15 yards as long as you cared to feed it and pull the trigger

One of the guys that qualified with us during one of the S.O.'s annual qualifications was a competitive shooter, and after putting a magazine-full into a place the size of your palm, at 25 yards, wanted to know if I'd either sell him mine, or at least tell him where to find another one. ( Kahr's were very new and very rare at the time, at least around here. )

I've shot quite a few Glocks and I've never seen one that would shoot as well as that little Kahr.

Too bad I traded it off a couple of years later. :banghead:

Yeah, the DA trigger takes some getting used to, but once you do, the gun will do it's part.

Thanks for the replies! My buddy is a pretty fair shot to say the least and it could well be the Kahr DA trigger affecting his groups. I have to agree with dmallind that the Kahr wins in the "concealment" department. I actually was expecting him to shoot better groups with the Kahr than the Glock for some reason but it didn't happen ............:) .

Kahr vs Glock

I had a Kahr PM9 but sold it and got a Glock 26 so I would have the same trigger as my Glock 34. I just went back to a good used PM9 due to the 26 just being a little too bulky for concealed carry in warmer weather. If I work the trigger right and don't jerk it, it is every bit as accurate as the Glock.
