Ah come on. It's easier to make fun of conservatives as opposed to liberals? Every time Biden and Algore open their mouths its a laugh riot!

Both Stewart and Colbert are at least thinking individuals, not mindless sluts like some other left wing reporters or SNL. I respect Colbert for going to Iraq and giving the fighting men & women some air time, recognition, and entertainment. I don't think I have seen any other "lefties" shave their head and put on a set of cammies, or go into a war zone.....

They also raised a crapload of money for veterans doing a benefit of a kind I can't remember. My buddy got to see/meet Stephen in Iraq and said he was cool as (all get out). I do think they care for us in action, not just words like some other pundits.

Well said!

I remember watching those episodes of Colbert and Iraq and it really gave me a lot of respect for him. He seemed to genuinely have a ton of respect for the troops there and certainly showed his appreciation for them. Sure he poked fun at the military but it was in a lighthearted way and it was more about him poking fun at himself.

He could use a lesson in muzzle discipline. After his guest came out, the gun was pointed at the audience for the rest of the interview. However, the guest actually made a comment at about 8:10 that "we don't want it pointed that way" but Colbert ignored the comment.

I've seen colbert criticize both sides of the aisle with his biting humor...he wasn't super kind to obama, which was hilarious.

I made similar post with the vid clip link in the general discusion forum. frankly im supprised that so many people dont realize the show is satirical. personaly, im a fan of stewert/colbert they dont hide their bias (well colbert doesn't intend to anyway) I thought the show posited a very neutral point of veiw on the ak.

there may have been a few tongue-in-check comments but for the most part, what they said about the ak was true and i didnt hear anything that made my blood boil (while i fully expected to at first.)

here is the other post on this with a vid link

I'd like to say i watch the report and stewart every night, its one of my fav shows. ive never heard stewart say hes was in faor of any kind of gun ban, and in colberts case, ie neer heard him say that he was agianst one. the only really anti gun thing ive heard from colbert is from the above posted vid. It did piss me off to watch, but i also laughed, and you have to admit, drunk rednecks talking about why they need guns in bars is an easy target. keep in mind, i would think most people know this already, but 90% of what stewart or colbert says oustside of an interview was written by writers and not by them.

ive also herd them make fun of the left on number of ocasions and they are no more forgiving of dems then repubilcians. also, stewart describes himslef as "the most trusted name in fake news" and colbert describes himslef as a "fundit"

as to the original topic, i thought the ak-47 peice was fair and the few jokes they made were light hearted and not really anti gun in the strictest sense. perhaps this signals a change of mindset scince the above posted piece? i can only hope.

I watched the video segment, and I'd say if there was any "bashing," it was light hearted and in jest. Yeah I cringed a bit at the AK with magazine inserted and action closed, sweeping the audience, but at least he had his hands nowhere near the trigger.

I have a question...

If that was a real AK wouldn't it be illegal to have it in NY due to the assault weapons ban? Also it had a hi-cap mag inserted in it, aren't high capacity mags also illegal in NY?

I assume the gun belonged to the guest Colbert had on the show, did he get special permission to bring it to the set, let alone the State and city?

not sure about new york but i know that in california movie companies and TV shows get a special expemtion to the assault weapons ban there. thats so you dont see every bad guy in every movie you watch using an sks or the like

I wouldn't necessarily call him anti-gun, but being a new yorker he probably is not pro-gun either.
Lol, well I think being neutral towards gun ownership is a hell of a lot better than being supremely anti-gun. Just take a look at Michael Moore's views on anything right-wing. He thinks conservatives are demons and firearms are the staffs with which they torture.

ganymede: i live in new york not the city though differnt rules there. we are allowed to have an ak with a hi cap mag, as long as the mag was manufactured before 1994. the gun can be new.
