These are hard to come by. If you dont pay that premium someone else will.

I've seen them online at a few stores for 300-350, but they sell out quickly. If you don't wanna pay extra, start emailing retailers and seeing when new orders might pop up.

Somebody will want it bad enough to pay that. Can't really blame the guy for getting all he can...it isn't like it is a "necessity".

I already have my two, one in 9 and one in .40. Still waiting on them to make a .45!

IMHO the price is a bit high, but keep in mind the cost of ownership is the price you pay minus what you can sell it for. If you shoot it for 5 years and sell it for $395 it has cost you only $20/year, the price of 2 movie tickets.

They probably get ONE every 18 months and have to "make hay when the sun shines", so to speak.

But consider yourself lucky ... I'm an FFL and have been waiting for my first one of these .... for THREE YEARS. I'm on the waiting list at at least 4 different distributors.

Sounds pretty high to me.

But do they actually HAVE any ... NO.

I paid 450 for mine. So, 495 is not to high.
They are fun rifles! They make great bug out guns.
And if you have the same caliber in a hand gun.....
Even more reason to own one. :neener:

Lateck,

You think that's bad? A local pawn shop got in two that were in FDE and wanted $615 for each. They had to gall to say "priced to move" in their ad. Yeah, right, priced to move nowhere.

If you are waiting to buy a new one for $299 you might as well wait till hell freezes over ;-)

PS I did get mine a couple years ago for that price...well, those were the days. Its a neat gun. Just make sure to feed it full power loads. It also lends itself quite well to customizing...here is mine.

But, it's good for 11 straight, trouble free rounds firing any load, bullet type, and brand. I can't give that confidence to a Sub2K. Mine was a G17 model as well. It was not reliable, still spotty even with quality ammunition. I'm not sold on the folding thing, I don't hide rifles in briefcases or duffle bags which is pointless anyway. Most carbines are smallish, light, and easily stowed in an inconspicuous manner and place where it's accessible. Plus, the folding feature point is moot with an optic.

Actually I think I've seen a rotatable forearm so that you can swing the optic to the bottom and still fold it up.

I'd buy one at $300, maybe 350 max, if money is burning a hole in my pocket since I already have a bunch of 33 round Glock 17 mags.

Seen lots of the S&W and Beretta mag models for ~$300 around here, but the only Glock ones recently have been for .40S&W. For something like this, I want 9mm for cheap ammo.

Lateck,
I paid $600 for mine, but it was one of the first ones to come in to Canada, and the price has come down a little since then. I also traded it for a VZ-58 about 6 month later (when there were no more to be had). It was a good little carbine, accurate (enough, especially considering the crap sights it comes with) and reliable.
