I'm shooting a browning 222. Loaded with hornady 50gr vmax, 23.1gr H322 3000 fps +/- I'm not positive on the rate of twist but I'm leaning toward 1n14. I noticed the other day that the holes in the target were not nice n round like they were before.. Any one have any Ideas as to how I can fix that? Gun shoots moa or better.

I noticed the other day that the holes in the target were not nice n round like they were before..

If they where "nice n round" with the same load previously with the same rifle then something has changed since that time. Change in components (bullets, cases, etc), change in primers, different powder lot, barrel got fouled, target fluttering and not stapled tight against a cardboard or other backer.

Brownings in .222 rem should have a 1:12 twist so that shouldn't be a problem stabalizing 50gr bullets.

Do you have any other info you can think of about the targets, loads, barrel, ect. It just doesn't normally happen with that cartridge unless someone tries a very long bullet.

Cheaper thinner target this time? Need a backer, or thicker target? Just a thought.

+1
Paper is flenching when the bullets hit it.
Use a backer board.

Gun shoots moa or better.

Then it for sure isn't the bullets tipping or keyholing in flight if you are getting MOA or better accuracy.
