I needed to disassemble the bolt on my CMP Kimber M82. I was unable to find any web images of the assembly.
Of course remove bolt from rifle.
Rotate the bolt/cocking shroud to release the spring tension.
Use an allen wrench to unscrew the cocking stud. The thread is a left hand thread.
Pull off the shroud.
Drift out the firing pin shaft drift pin. The mainspring will shoot out once the drift pin is out of the way.
Pull the firing pin assembly out of the bolt.
Installing the mainspring is a lot more difficult than getting it out. You have to compress the mainspring before you can start the drift pin.
Don’t forget to install the striker. I was so proud, I had compressed the mainspring, got the drift in, assembled the bolt, and when I looked down, there was the striker laying on the bench.
