If I was going to carry pepper spray, the only thing that turns me off of this product is the inability to practice ... other than that, it appears to be the best thing on the market.
I'm not a big fan of these. While they have good range, I have doubts about the single "Pop" of pepper vs. a controlled stream that can be directed at a moving target. Similarly, the the "spray-can" operation of common pepper spray containers is pretty much a no-brainer to operate.
The Kimber units also cost a LOT compared to even good quality brands like Fox. The pistol-shaped one goes for $150!
Got one for my fiance, I carry it myself sometimes. Just like a pistol you have to aim it carefully, but you do get two shots and it does spread a bit when fired.
I think a woman or anyone can be decently outfitted with the Kimber $40 unit, a faster-accessed $15 Spitfire unit, and a pocket stick/kubotan or a Comtech Stinger.
The biggest mistake most people make when preparing their wives is lack of rehearsal and considering when/why she'd wanna use it. Remember to help her think about E&E.
