Knives of Alaska - Any experience/reviews?

So while shopping for a new fillet knive for fishing I came across this company "Knives of Alaska" They are made in the USA so big plus.

Anyone seen/used them? while browsing their website I came across this cool survival knife and thought maybe i needed a new toy to go along with all my other knives lol.

Its a their "survival knife" model, but not like the usual over marketed over hyped. Hollow handle cheapo knives you find all over the place. I hate those. They feel cheap, and over rated.

This one has a little allen wrench in the sheath that you use to remove the handle peices and the little trinkets are in little hollowed out spaces. This allowing the blade and handle to still be all one peice.

Anyway, enough rambling, here it is.

So anyone have experience with them or used their knives. I like their fillet knife and was thinking about getting one.

Another big plus from me for KOA. Admittedly, I'm biased: I'm an Athabascan Alaska Native, and I tend to like all things Alaska. However, in this case it's justified. I have carried and used the Bush Camp, the Featherlight Hunter, and my favorite, the Alaska Magnum. I'm a big fan of the sure grip rubber handles, the blades hold an edge well, and the knives can take a beating.

Ya HSO, thats the one that caught my eye. Like I said, I was actually shopping for a new fillet knife( I will probably get one of these Alaskas and try it out, they look very nice) but that knife caught my eye and was a "omg i gotta have" moment lol.

Nothing I "need" just another knife to the collection.

But I figured Id get some good feedback from here if I decided to grab one.

KOA makes good products at fair prices and I don't think you can go wrong with one. I own a large number of blades but for filleting I like my KOA and Microtech fillet knives. The knife that caugght your eye looks like a great all-around camping/survival design...I just might need it too!

I have a KOA Brown Bear and a Light Hunter that I traded for a few years back. They quickly became my grandkids favorite knives in my collection. IMHO they are a quality tool and look good as well.

I tend to like all things Alaska

KOA are made in Texas I believe. No connection to this great state other than the name and the fact that the owner likes to hunt up here.

There are maker-made knives made in Alaska. I've got a gorgeous one right here with a razor sharp edge and a forged ram's head pommel. The state has some fantastic custom knife makers from high-end fellas to a guy who makes them out of railroad ties. But not KOA blades. Not that they don't have fans here. But IMHO the company should be called Knives of Texas ;-)

Despite any misgivings about their company name, their knives are excellent. I have two, both were gifts and they are tough, and hold an edge very well.

just found this thread while looking for opinion of the KOA Cub Bear. wondering if the OP is still paying attention to this thread and has went ahead with the purchase?
