I am looking for an inexpensive (maybe under $150) .22 auto that is small. I have seen only the phoenix arms .22s but they have a lot of safeties (maybe 2 switches?) and I heard that they are a pain to take the safeties off before firing. So, if you know of some other small .22 that is affordable....

Thank you.

I picked up a .22 beretta 950bs for $60 bucks from a buddy that didnt remember when he had bought it. My wife loves it, its the only gun i can get her to keep in the car with her. Shoots great, never had any problems. Fits pretty comfortable in my hands as well. I would suggest it to anyone.

Thats a tough price range .. can't even get an NAA mini-revolver for that. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is maybe a cobra or davis derringer in 22. If it has to be mousegun small though, youd be much better off spending a little bit more for a used taurus pt22 or a beretta like the previous poster mentioned.

I dunno ... standard Rugers MKIII's go for $260 new from retail places, and the 22/45s go for $245. You might be able to get a well-used one for about $150. And a Ruger .22 with 10,000 rounds through it is still 10X the gun that these SNS mini .22s are.

Then again, you did say "small," and I don't know if a 3" Ruger would be small enough for you.

But really, keep in mind that, while I've heard people who really like the small Berettas, for the most part all the mini .22s have serious reliability problems, and the Rugers and Buckmarks are probably the only reasonably priced .22 autoloaders I'd trust. Revolvers of course are very reliable and there are some very small .22 revolvers ... although I don't know if the NAAs are practical, and a S&W 317 is about $500.

If we're talking about something very small for defense, I would seriously recommend you look into something like a Kel-Tec that's actually chambered for a round that's meant for autoloaders. I'm not trying to debate the stopping power of a .22, I'm simply talking about reliability of rimfire ammo in autoloaders.

All that aside, in your price range you should probably just be checking around for good deals at pawn shops, then maybe post back for opinions on things you're considering.
