[Newbie Note to all] This is my first post, but it won't be my last! Looking over your forum, I've been impressed by the helpful and intelligent tone of the majority of forum members, who seem to be very knowledgeable indeed. So I hope at least one of you will be able to shed light on a question that's been bugging me for a while now

On February 1, 2006 LaserMax went to all the trouble of advertising an upcoming install-it-yourself sight for the Ruger P-89 and P-90 models. Great! About time! A copy of that ad is attached F.Y.I.
Now, almost two years later, they have still failed to put such a thing on the market. Inquiries to LaserMax by phone have produced evasive and non-commital responses, such as, "Well, engineering is still working on it," or similar nebulous nonsense. And messages left for their sales executive requesting a callback have been ignored.
Does anybody know what the problem is, or when -- if ever -- such a product is likely to be available?
I don't think all that much of the other options for mounting a laser sight on an autopistol, so I'm holding out for the "guide rod swap solution."
Any and all information, including educated guesses, will be sincerely appreciated.
