I recently picked up a Ruger LC9s Pro and have enjoyed it very much. Its a great shooter and has so far been problem free through about 300 rounds. It shoots and carries very well but I must admit to one concern. I noticed that the internal frame is made of aluminium. The steel slide is riding on this frame's aluminium rails. This makes me at lease a little concerned as to the pistol's long term durability.

To any of you who have owned the LC9 for a decent amount of time, have you ever had issues with these aluminium rails? Chipping, cracking, etc? How many rounds do you have through your LC9?

I've owned a standard LC9 for a couple of years. I've had no issues with reliability. BUT, it is not my main carry or a range gun. It's my grab it, I'm running out to the store in summertime gun. I shoot about a mag a month thru mine to be sure I can hit something with it. But my main range gun is a Glock 19 or 21.

I have 2. One early model from 2011 and one new lc9 with the dark earth frame. I put about 1000 rounds thru the early one and gave it to my son. Missed it and bought the dark earth model. About 300 rounds thru the new one. No problems with either one. Never a failure to feed or fire also. Plenty of pistols made with aluminum frames out there.

I picked one up a few months ago and already have about 700 rounds through it. I don't have any fear in it lasting.

I intend to put around 1500 rounds per year through it until something else comes along I want to carry more.
