LCP recoil spring from Wolff

Has anyone tried the 13 lb. (9 lb. is standard) from Wolff? Sometime ago I changed out the springs in my p32 to 13 lbs. and never looked back. I did not change out the fp spring and have had no problems.

I think Ruger uses a 9 lb. so "everyone" can rack the slide. I would think the heavier spring would help with recoil, feeding and keeping her in battery while holstering.

I haven't yet but I've got one on order as I type this. From what I've read, it's the way to go. Helps minimize the ejects from going all over the place and the perceived recoil. Mine has been 100% out of the box reliable but I don't have a lot of rounds through it yet. It's a lot of fun to shoot but after a while my old hand starts whining. A slip on Hogue Handall is on the way as well. But, only until I get it broke in good and start to fully trust it. I should get the spring this week and I'm not sure when I'll get it back to the range. I'll post the results.

Interesting. My wife and sons can't rack the stock slide. I guess "everyone" doesn't include them.

I suppose I'll replace the spring when it wears out.

Some people say that the older LCPs were shipped with 9# springs but they might have changed them to a higher # spring later on. Others say they didn't. I can't find any solid evidence to support either. All I know is that that's a super pain since I reload. I think I'l try the Wolff 13# in the near future and see how it goes. Let me know how it works for you.

I have one in my early LCP. The spring that came with the gun didn't have the flared end as shown in the exploded diagram, even after it came back from the recall. I ordered a 13# Wolff spring about 8 months ago now and have been using it ever since, I'd almost forgotten about it until I saw this thread.

I carry Double Tap defensive loads, I think the stronger spring decreases wear and improves reliabilty. Either way it works just fine with range ammo as well, like I said, I'd pretty much forgotten about it not being stock.

EDIT: Don't know if this has changed by now, but when I ordered mine it was actually listed as a Kel-Tek part.

Yep Spy, It's changed. Wolff now has springs for the LCP. The Keltec must work fine based on what I've read but now the part # is different for the LCP spring.

FWIW, I just checked a LCP bought about last June and got 9 LBS 15 OZ on the stock recoil spring.

That would be within the tolerance of a typical 10 LB recoil spring. Since + or - 2 OZ when new from stated number is fairly typical. Except for some aftermarket ISMI springs I have checked. Some of those I have checked have been up to one and a half pounds under their rating. Typically Wolf does well with their recoil springs.

Been running a 13lb in my 380kelTec for couple years I shot mainly Corbon then and felt that that spring would work better
