Anyone have a good load for cast bullets for the 6.5 Swede...I have an RCBS mold which drops a Lyman #266469 cast bullet at 140 grains. Published data is pretty skimpy...

Unfortunately this particular caliber is about as controversial as talking religion vs evolution.
I'm not saying it can't be done, but if you do a search on cast 6.5x55 you will quickly see several threads which start off as simply this one has, but morph into something way out of proportion.
I myself have one I plan to cast for, but I have plenty of other stuff ahead of it on the list. Once I get there I am planning on having the time to spend to do it right and not simply pull up data and try different loads hoping to hit something.

Do your cast bullets have a gas check on the base?
Are you monitoring/controlling the hardness of the lead?
I've been thinking about using cast bullets for my 25-06 and I think there will be similar issues between the two cartridges.

Yes, I would think there would be very similar difficulties with either the 6.5 Swede and 25-06. Maybe we can learn together.
My lead is derived from older wheel weights...I believe they contain a higher degree of desirable hardening metals i.e. tin with a dose of arsenic. I plan to drop them into water as they are cast (careful not to splash water on any lead) to perhaps increase their hardness.
Will size them to .265 and use Hornady Gas Checks. If you are not familiar with the bullet, it is a round nose with several grease groves.
We are being eaten alive in South Texas by the feral hog. I want to build a rig which does not cost big $---nighttime scopes and sound suppressors drive up the cost out of my budget.
So I am ultimately looking for a cartridge which is quiet, approaches sub-sonic; with a scope-light on an existing rifle, maybe I can afford it.

You might get more responses on the Cast Bullets forum. Those guys got me squared away on both my 40 S&W and 45-70 cast bullets.

Its a great site to learn!
I got my 308 win shootting a 200grain cast bullet at 2345fps, and shoots around 1-1/4 MOA to 300 yards. It sure is fun!

The subject of cast loads in the 6.5x55 has probably generated more argument, discussion and controversy than ANY OTHER SINGLE TOPIC on the Cast Boolits Board, with its millions of posts and 32,000-plus members.
I do believe you are starting out at the PHD level of cast-bullet reloading. Do some reading over there and see what you think...
