According to Lee

I'm assuming the powder you want info on is listed in Lee's materials as wSuper Tar. If so, the volume of 2.5 gr. is .3 cc. This is taken from Lee's slide chart supplied with their equipment.

You really need a scale to measure powder weights. I've used the Lee auto disk in the past. I found the chart was wrong and the disk threw a lower charge than it listed. IMO this is not an accident. A good scale is a worthwhile investment for reloading.

You can make educated guesses about volumes, density, etc. of different powder, but a scale tells you what the powder charge really weighs.

+1

Always use a scale. I've used the Lee charts, but never for anything other than to get into the ballpark of the correct cavity. The charts are never exact, if for no other reason than variations in powder density from lot to lot. I've never loaded a powder charge without weighing it.

I use a Lee Auto Disc II and, would you believe...The reason that the chart and LADII is too high or too low is caused by barametric pressure. I've loaded the same lot number on overcast days and then on bright sunny days and had two different values. Asked a friend (a meteroligist) and that's how he explained it. It seems to vary around .2 to .6(?) grains depending on the weather.

VMD=.0931
Micrometer is .23

The .3cc scoop will give you 3.2 grains of 231/WST.

Hummmm...I have never had that problem with my Auto Disc. My Auto disc II has served me well over the years. I usually choose the cavity just under what I want and trickle up to the weight that I desire. It has never been more then .2 to .6 grains below the assigned charge by the chart. No matter what the weather, good or bad. And it does seem to make a difference.

I noticed last night that mine was sticking a bit when reloading .223 rounds for my AR. Might have to break it down and give her a good cleaning.

That is an acassional requirement. You might also check the fit between the disc and the hopper. I have draw filed mine on sever acassion over the years.

Oh-oh...Here it comes..... :D
