When the government gives you lots of little laws that arent worth following it makes it easier to ignore the big ones.
Well I can hardly agree with this.
I don't agree with income tax, property tax and probate. That doesn't mean I'll be likely to kill someone. Or steal from them.
I think annual "licenses" for pets are ridiculous.. so much that I have never and will never pay the $5-$15/pet that the local codes dictated in nearly ever city I've lived. I think next year I"ll just start killing all the neighbors pets.
I often drive 5-10MPH over the posted limit on highways. I think that makes me much more likely to swerve into oncomming traffic and assasinate a family. Suuurrre
I bought beer and rum from age 13-20 completely illegaly. You know what I think I might as well ignore common sense and the laws and get wasted and try and drive my car home. (I'm not saying I never drove after drinking, but the fact that I got the beer illegaly had absolutely nothing to do with the reason I made a poor choice later that day-arrogance, ignorance, and stupidity. yes.)
An argument like that applies the same logic the anti's use to try and bolster their ludicrous claims.
We either believe in the ability of individuals to use their own God given brain. Or we believe we are all too stupid to be able to make any decision on our own. And decide to pass the responsibility off to laws and regulations.
We can't have it both ways.
I think it's obvious which choice was made decades back.
Now I think I'm going to go park in an expired metered spot.. then rape the meter maid for citing me
oh yeah and for a firearms related example.
When the AWB told me I couldn't put that 30rd mag in my AR15... well I'm sure my choice in that matter made me much more likely to climb a belltower
