OK, the wacko hoplophobes and their blissninnie followers have gone and done it: Proposition H, which passed yesterday, bans the manufacture, distribution, sale and transfer of firearms and ammunition within San Francisco. It also prohibits San Francisco residents from possessing handguns within San Francisco.

We gunowners simply cannot allow this gun grab to go unpunished. I will avoid buying any product or service that originates in San Francisco, and I urge all of you to do the same. Also, pass this on to anyone else you know who's a friend of liberty. Let SF not only have higher crime, but let its economy suffer - stick it to them!

I'd like anyone who has a list (or access to the same) of major businesses that operate out of SF to post names - the more the merrier. Let's reward pro-gun (or neutral) businesses instead of those located in a liberty-destroying place like SF. I can think of 2 off the top of my head: Ghirardelli Chocolates and Transamerica Insurance and Investment Group.

A few:

Charles Schwab
CNET
Craigslist
Dolby Laboratories
Levi Strauss
Macromedia
Sega of America
The Gap
The Sharper Image
Visa
Viz Communications
Wells Fargo
Williams-Sonoma
Wired Magazine

Everyone says in time Ca will float into the ocean. God why you taking so long? Most I know here in Arizona look at Ca as being a bigger threat to our way of life then the illegals

Yeah, and I will no longer hum I Left My Heart in San Francisco!

I don't know why, it isn't a first. Chicago and DC banned handguns (and for all practical purposes, all guns) years ago. NYC doesn't have an outright ban, but just try to legally own a handgun in NYC if you are a regular person. Terrible news, but nothing new (thus, not a "science project").

The other measure that passed is equally stupid:

"The measure, dubbed "College Not Combat," opposes the presence of military recruiters at public high schools and colleges. However, it would not ban the armed forces from seeking enlistees at city campuses, since that would put schools at risk of losing federal funding."

Take the recruiters but not the funding huh?

If recruiters can't recruit on college campuses then colleges shouldn't bask in the freedom that the military provides...

I'll stop drinking Anchor Steam beer. I confess, I still harbor fond memories of SF - growing up near there. In those days there were some nice pawn shops down on 3rd Ave (near the train station) where you could buy pistols cheap, the old Spaghetti Factory on Green St. where I could get all I could eat for under $5 and the locals that would let me park my motorcycle on the sidewalk without being hassled. Its such a beautiful city, too bad it's been taken over by screwballs.

I think if you read the particulars, this ban is a little worse than those. Chicago did not require turning in currently owned firearms. Baby steps into the noose, Bob.

A marching song for the soon to be arriving thugs in SF

San Francisco (Be Sure to bring a Glock in your underwear) -- A thug's tribute to Proposition H
Revised Lyrics (apologies to Scott McKenzie)

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to bring a Glock in your underwear
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Anytime with be a crime spree there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people -- unarmed and too rich to care

All across the nation such a strange vibration
Felons in motion
There's political correctness .. who cares it doesn't affect us.
Felons in motion Felons in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Rape and pillage, no one will really care.
If you come to San Francisco
Be sure to bring a Glock in your underwear

If you come to San Francisco
Line up the sheeple there.

Hell, they're even disarming the POLICE if they're not on duty.

However, anyone employed as a paid security guard can have a handgun.

If I lived there, I'd be inclined to guard my wife for $1 per month, and she could guard me for $1 per month.

There's nothing in the law that would preclude this, from what I can tell.

I have been boycotting SF for several months now.

The few times I have been forced to go there for work, I have purposely spent as little money inside the city as possible.

Now my resolve is redoubled.

Wells Fargo - Most of the gun shops around here offer finanacing through Wells Fargo...kind of ironic. I carry a zero balance on my account and have not used it in a long time. This might be a good time to drop them a letter to explain why I'm closing my account.

NRA to File Lawsuit Challenging
San Francisco Gun Ban

Fairfax, VA - Even with opposition from San Francisco law enforcement and major media outlets, Proposition H -- a measure banning the lawful possession, sale and manufacture of handguns and ammunition within city limits -- passed yesterday. The National Rifle Association (NRA) will file a lawsuit challenging this severe gun ban.

NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre stated, “We are disappointed, but this fight is just beginning. Lawful residents of San Francisco are being stripped of their freedom because of an illegal measure that defies common sense. We will fight this outrageous assault on the rights of law-abiding San Franciscans and I believe that we will prevail.”

Many San Francisco residents who initially supported the ban changed their opinion after NRA and local volunteers began voter education efforts throughout the city. The campaign received an additional boost when the San Francisco Police Officers Association condemned the gun ban, declaring it would "nullify the personal choice of city residents to lawfully possess a handgun for self-defense purposes.” Major San Francisco newspapers also voiced opposition to Proposition H.

In response to the passage of this proposition, NRA will lead a coalition of organizations to immediately file a lawsuit against this illegal ban in San Francisco. Proposition H, in addition to violating federal guarantees, also violates various California state laws and is therefore preempted.

Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist, concluded, “This is a hollow victory for the gun control lobby because this scheme is in clear violation of California law. We will file suit and fight this to the highest courts in the country until good sense prevails once again in San Francisco.”

Why waste the money, just wait for them to slide into the ocean no one will miss them.
