Well, I ended up getting one, this was a unusual deal, as I had wanted to get it, but, was too late, it was already sold, I said "Well, if for some reason it falls through, let me know?" Month or so later, seller writes me and says it fell through, buyer never came up with the dough, so, the good-guy deal to me, if I still wanted it would be xyz ( which was a good guy deal, too )..., and, I said "Woo Hoo!" -

"Russian Model" ( ie: .44 Russian Cartridge )

Stocks are not original, Barrel has been shortened...Numbers all match, good Bore, crisp no-slop Action, snug all round, seems like original Nickel.

I will do a Range Report soon as I can get some Cartridges ( 3 F BP of course ) loaded up ( might be a few weeks, no Mold yet, might send off for Bullets though, and, 100 rounds of new unprimed Brass is on it's way...)

Still trying to understand their Model designations ( other then Calibre ).

I think this a 1st Model 'Frontier'...but, not certain...

Oyeboten, yes I do, with some very mild loads. I bought it from an elderly gentlemen who told me he had bought it in Mexico many years ago. He thought it was a Winchester revolver due to the caliber markings on it. Not collector grade but has lots of "character" When I bought it, the single action didn't work, I sent it to a smith (now retired) that specialized in "cowboy" pistols, he fixed it, straightened the cylinder pin, and re welded the ring the barrel catches on to drag the cylinder forward.

Hi cane,

You should think about reloading your shells with Black Powder, where, you can go Full Power and, still be within what it was made for.

Black Powder Metallic Cartridge for Revolver is so much nicer to shoot than Smokeless..!

Hi guys, Just found the site. I shoot some of my MHs. The 38s use 38 S&W, 32s 32 S&W sht & longs, & 44-40s & 44 Russian. They are only so-so shooters but how much orig stuff shoots well anyway? Barrels have changed sizes etc. Use only BP in the 44s along with the assorted fouling problems. Also have used converted casings w/shotgun primers & wax bullets. MHs shoot as well as my orig S&W 44 Russ topbreak. Looking for any original parts & pieces for them. Worked w/Art Phelps many years ago on his book. I still shoot em & love em. However, If you are seeking trouble free shooting buy a Ruger Vaquero.
