I like Henry for new stuff, have one in 45-70. Sometimes I wonder who makes the rules with cartridges in previous shotgun zones. My Knight muzzle-loader has more fps and a flatter trajectory than most any 45-70 round. That’s a 45 cal, shooting a .400” bullet at 2218 fps, Blackhorn 209 powder.

That's precisely why the slug/ML regs are being walked back in alot of areas.

I hear ya. My 1861 Springfield rifle loaded heavy will spank a .45-70 and send it crying home to it's ma-ma! And take it's lunch money. And give it a wedgie.

Yes indeed they did, maybe still do? It is a Finwolf, chambered in 243, 308, and maybe 358 Win. Beautiful, modern style lever action. Similar in design to the Winchester 88.
Huh... I can't find any on their website so they must be older models... Interesting none the less.

270OKIE, just looking at your member name does remind me of my favorite deer rifle. My Sako Finnbear in .270 Win, which now proudly resides on a friends ranch in S/E Idaho.
Of which I'm going to tomorrow for some fishing and beer drinking. Might even shoot the 'ol Sako.

I’m sure they did. When they quit the Vixen, Forester, and Finbear the Finwolf probably went away too. I bought 3 243 Foresters at the Patch Barracks Rod and gun club in 1972. A fellow solider bought a 308 Finwolf at the Wiesbaden AFB Rod and Gun club. Since then a SAKO 222 Vixen has taken up residence in one of my safes. I like the old SAKOs. Much better than the later 75 series rifles. Just like i like my old Pre-64 Model 70 better than my Stainless Classic Model 70. Both great rifles, but……..

I would go with the 350 legend, only because there seems to be plenty of it available around here. Of course, we aren't a SW state.

Nice! I have a lowly $500 Mossberg Patriot with a 22in sporter barrel which believe it or not is capable of putting rounds in the same dang hole if I do my part! The Sako lineup does look super nice though!! :)
