Folks, I am in the market for a nice leather holster for my HK USP 45. I see some brands that offer "Suede lined" holsters. What does the extra money for these lined holsters buy me? What are the benefits?
I would say that you will regret the suede lined holster. The suede will collect dirt and grime. Hard on the finish. Great retention but difficult to draw. Try one at a gunshop.
Get a good leather holster and use a sealer/polish to keep leather clean amd smooth.
I have a lined holster from El Paso Saddle Co. that I really like. I was supprised when I got it that the lineing was smooth, not suede, so I called them and asked why. I was told that suede will remove the finish real fast, they don't use it. I've never noticed any "holster ware" on my relover, unlike a couple other ones I have for other guns, so I'd say it works.

I have no regrets with the holster I purchased from them. I will say that I carry my $30 high noon split decision holster far more often because it is just easier does the same thing...for far less money. Sure, the craftsmanship isn't there...but it functions just as well. That being said, I wouldn't feel right without some nice custom leather. I like to wear it whenever I dress in a tie. It just feels like a nice, formal holster!
