A friend of mine swears by Barnes Tipped Triple-Shock bullets for deer so I thought I would give them a shot. Load data is a little sparse for the 80 grain tipped version for 243.

H4350 and RL 17 are the only loads listed by Barnes and this bullet is too new for the manuals I have.

I've heard you can take the load for a heavier bullet (like the 85 grain TSX) and use that but I was wondering if anyone had a favorite load for this guy they are willing to share. Thanks!

I used hodgdons load [40-44Cgrs H100v] for the 85tsx in my tikka 10 twist. In the process of workin up this load 80TTSX case/win,primer/win LR, 42.5grs H100v, .021 off the lands avg.vol/3114fps avg group size .75-.80@100yds the more i push it the tighter it gets so far no pressure signs.Work up safely..!

I load 36.5 grains of Varget with the Barnes TSX

Ha, is there any load Varget can't do? I should of known that would be an option.

I'm always running by the book with this stuff so I'm a bit out of my comfort zone swapping out bullets on a load. As long as it's only 5 grains lighter I'm assuming it's not a huge difference, just faster? Perhaps slightly less pressure?

I appreciate all the possible loads guys.
