Long gun purchase in New York City?

I'm a Westchester NYS resident and I work in NYC. I went to the Beretta store in NYC (Madison ave between 63-64th streets) Tuesday and bought a O/U and brought it home the same day. ...showed drivers license and NICs check - that is all.

Frankly, that shocked me as I thought this would be a huge issue with gun control laws.

When I lived in NYC I had no problem buying a shotgun either. Just had to promise to register it. No waiting period, nothing.

Not as bad as everyone thinks.
