Since I live in the humid Southeast, I may put dessicant packs in my flasks, horns, and cans. My powder, unfortunately, sits more than it shoots.
If I had my way, I'd shoot my BP guns every day.
But, I'm busy working and supporting a family.

You could always get a conversion cylinder and use .45 Colt BP cartridges and have even less worry.

When I'm in the jungle, I seal with powdered silica gel instead of cornmeal.

It's just a shame I am never in the jungle...

The shelf life on blackpowder is basically infinite. It is a mixture of components and does not break down, smokeless breaks down and has a shelf life.

Water will ruin blackpowder, I guess it dissolves the salt peter.

I loaded a Navy Arms pistol, melted candle wax around the chamber mouths and the caps. It was loaded for at least a year and all chambers fired off.

At the time I was living next to a salt lake. Everything corroded at that location.

That's not correct. Dry it out and it's as good as new.
