I purchased this used 30-30 from my daughter and didn't notice the front sight was loose in it's dovetail which, is cut directly in the barrel with no ramp. Is it likely, the sight it's self is worn under size or, the dovetail that's buggered? My eyes are not that great any more so would I be better off to get the front sight fixed/replaced or, get a scope & mount setup? All opinions are welcomed thanks! :)

I would just put it back on with Blue Lock Tight.
Then zero it before the Lock Tight cures.

It won't move again, unless you want it to.

You could also take the sight off and throw up some divots on the bottom of it with a center-punch.

That will tighten the sight in the dovetail.

I would use the center punch trick. Easy to do, and, the sight can be drifted if necessary. With loc tite you will need to reapply if you want to move the sight. Also, blue loc tite is a threadlocker, not an adhesive. It does not fill gaps very well and does not have very high shear strength. Loc tite makes products the would do the job very well. However, most are not stocked at the local hardware or auto parts store. I have used a variety of loc tite products in my 30 plus years as a Heavy truck mechanic. One thing I have learned is you must use the correct one.
