The .375 H&H is a medium bore. Big bore is .40 caliber or larger. Under .35 caliber is small bore. Class dismissed.

I just picked up a new Marlin 1895G in .45-70. Awsome gun.

+1 on the 45/70. nice gun. i bought the guide gun, but i have to admit that a longer barrel might be nice. but the cowboy model is really way longer than i want. imo, the mid length barrel is a better choice unless you hunt really tight brush. use the hornady levereveloution ammo for longer shots, that pointed bullet really makes a difference.
