Whats your intentions for the pistol? Concelaed carry? Target/plinking?

If its for CC, id also recommend a Kahr. I love my Kahr CW9. Im not sure how the 45s handle but id imagine just as good.

If not for CC, i would recommend a Beretta PX4. Ive heard alot of good things about them(im a Beretta forum member) and they come with 3 backstraps to fit the individual. Alot of people dog on Beretta's, but they make fine products.

Thanks for the interest guys!

To answer your questions:
- I guess if I had to set an upper bound for price, it would be $800-$850
- Trigger pull for single action 4-5 lbs. and for double action: ~8lbs
- I'd like a SAO or a SA/DA trigger
- I'd use this gun for Range Shooting/Home Defense/Take to the Deer Woods (maybe even pop a deer at close range)

If I ever get around to getting a conceal carry permit (I dont like the idea of paying for something I should have the God given right to do!), I'll probably get a Glock 29.

I voted for the M&P, but really think the Ruger P345 is a winner that you ought to consider.

well 10mm you posted the right price range, so even though it's not in your list I would definetly suggest a H&K pistol of your choice. they make some really nice CC weapons, but there full sizes aren't that great for CC I know I have a USP45 full size, but I make it work.

As for the triggers, they do make some SRT's, if I recall correctly, and the tigger can easily be polished up to make it even smoother (less lbs of tension), once again I say this from personnal experience.

It's really all up to you my friend, but my suggestion stand respectfully

S&W M&P I was gonna buy one but they reduced the rebate so that held me back from getting one.

I'd say in concert with others that you left off the Springfield XD. Of course the now discontinued 1911 style Kimber Pro can be had a bargain basement prices. Not to mention that the Sig Sauer 250 is soon to be available in .45. Hopes that obfuscates the choice enough for ya.

I quite like the M&P personally.

of course there are choices not on your list, XD, Glock and USP come to mind. You don't want the first two, but I do recommend to the USP a try. It would be my first choice

.45s...

There are alot of real good .45s out there, especially the SIG P220 and HK USP, etc... ($$-budget is always important)... But if you want to stay with your list, the two guns that I've shot, and were impressed with were the M&P and FNP-45... but really impressed with the FNP... real good quality, great feel, super-light recoil for a .45, and a great shoot! Not much of a 'striker' fan so the SA/DA, hammer thing is important to me. At the end, it all gets down to YOU... which one fits right in YOUR hand, and which one is YOUR best shoot... And you'll know immediately!!

I have both the PX4 .45 and the XD .45. Since the XD .45 is off the table, I was forced to choose the PX4 .45 in the poll. But I've gotta tell ya, the XD .45 is simply a better gun. I've posted my misgivings about the PX4 a couple of times here on THR, so I won't do it again. But if you want to know, PM me.

Of the poly 45's I've shot, I've yet to shoot one that matches the all around performance of the USP 45

Of the current Poly 45's the FNP-45 wins hands down in terms of value and function.

The FNP-45 features traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) operation, a high-capacity polymer frame with interchangeable backstrap inserts, accessory rail and ambidextrous frame-mounted decocking levers and magazine release. The FNH-45's barrel is hammer-forged and the stainless steel slide has a matte finish. The FNP-45 also offers a loaded chamber indicator on the external extractor. A variety of standard and night sights are available. All FNPs come standard with three magazines and a lockable hard case.

These are selling for about $525 OTD with 3 mags case etc... This gun has everything you are asking for.
