Looking for Hi Cap .45 for CCW

I'm in the market for a .45 CCW pistol. I carry an M&P 9mm compact now and I really like the gun, no complaints. I just want the larger caliber if I can find what I'm looking for. I'd buy the M&P 45 compact in a heartbeat if it carried more rounds in the mag. It has an 8 round capacity. I know that is lot of firepower but I'd prefer more if possible.

I was looking at a Para Ordnance Tac-Four this past weekend. It has a 13 round mag capacity. It has the LDA trigger system that felt ok, different but ok. The frame was the same or damn near the dimensions of a traditional 1911. The grip was of course larger to accept the double stack mag but it wasn't near as large as I would have guessed if I hadn't handled it. I think it would make a good IWB carry piece. I did some research and have found mixed reviews on Para's in general so I don't know what to think about them.

My question for y'all is are there other manufacturers that make a compact .45 that accepts hi cap double stack mags? I know the XD and Glock compacts have hi cap capabilities. I like the thin profile of the Para over the bulk of most of the popular polymer pistols. The M&P I carry now isn't slim by any means and I carry that ok. Just looking at all the choices I have before I make a decision. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Czech out the CZ97B. Comes with either a conventional safety or a decocker.

10 round magazines, plus one in the pipe.

Ergonomics, reliability, accuracy all top notch.

It is, but I have found it surprisingly easy to carry OWB.

Didn't intend it that way - bought it for a house gun -

But tried it out, and, well, dang!!!

That being said, my line of work allows me to live in jeans,

And I wear an 1 3/8" wide Filson belt made of two heavy duty layers

Of bridle leather stitched together.

In my experience, it is the belt, and not the holster,

That makes all the difference in the world for carrying either IWB or OWB.

I'm not sure Hi Cap .45 and CCW go together...:)
That's a lot to lug around and conceal with questionable benefit over say, .357SIG
 
Glock 30s are very popular. Even some who claim to hate Glocks seem to find them acceptable. Worth considering.

I've concealed an XD45 Service 4" full size (13 round mags) and two extra magazines. I just carried them on a belt, and tied a jacket around my waist to conceal them.:)
 
so your only for self defense if its with a gun you like? going to perpose an ammendment to ban glocks?
 
FNP 45 holds 14+1...
Glock 30 (compact) with a Glock 21 magazine holds 13+1 and weighs less than the FNP...

don't own one yet, but the taurus 24/7 are nice and small and I think 12 +1 mag capacity. I am about to get the OSS version in .40. but I have no personal experience with one yet, but I have heard good things.
 
Another for the Glock 30. I think you will be hard pressed to find a better combination of size, capacity, weight, and reliability. You can carry it 10+1 and a Glock 21 mag for the reload.
 
I carry a M&P compact 9mm, and some time ago decided to grab a .45. After looking at 1911's, Glocks, H&Ks, etc, I fell back to the M&P .45 Full Size.
At least give it a try. It's much bigger than our 9mm Compacts, sure, but I'm really surprised at how easy it is to carry in the small of my back. The 9mm is still my daily carry (the .45 is really my bedroom peace-of-mind pistol), but I could carry the .45 with no trouble.
 
I think what you are looking for is an oxymoron you want a "hi-cap compact" reliable 45 ACP. Good luck, when you find one I want to see pics.
 
How is the G30 "hi-cap"? With a standard mag cap of 10 what is hi-cap about it? For 45 I consider 12 to be standard.
 
Taurus 24/7 .45ACP

I have a Taurus 24/7 .45ACP with 12+1 capacity. I have been extremely happy with it. I have a model 92 also. I haven't had a lick of problems with either one. The reason I went with it was fit. I tried Glock (to big for my hand), Springfield XD (extremely close to fitting my hand) and Taurus (right on the money). I have shorter fingers and didn't have to struggle to reach all the controls. It has good fixed sights. I shot 95% on a 50 round CCW course with it. A friend has a S&W M&P .45 and he loves it. I haven't shot it but it feels pretty good in the hand. It's only 10+1 rounds, but still some serious firepower. The drawback to the hi-cap CCW in .45 is the weight.
