I know that the FOP operated a very nice range in Plesent Grove, At one time I vaguely remember a range that was operated int the Graysville Al area. I have made a few attempts to locate any information on it an seeing others from the Greater Birmingham area though someone could steer me in the right direction. I have decent place at home to test fire but not exactly a nice laid out range and it would take cuting way too many trees and hard work to bring it to the place I would like it to be. It has been over a year since i visited the Plesent Grove range run by the F.O.P. Just trying to find a place that is closer Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WALKERs210,

Out of curiosity, I re-checked Outdoor Alabama as TenDriver suggested.

I think FOP may be it for you. www.foprangeinc.com

They are still open. I am a member there. :)

They do have a lot more ranges open for members than the public, but as you found out, they have a public range also. Handguns and rifles up to 100 yards at both the public and at member ranges.

If you want to try out to 500 yards in a controlled environment, you'll need to check out Brock's Gap / Steel City, (I'm also a member there!) but it is members-only, and even farther away from you.

In Graysville, I would think that it would be easy to find somewhere to do casual shooting. :)

The new CMP range in Talladega will be open in 12-18 months hopefully. That's another place as well; or will be at least. Brock's Gap membership is currently closed, but he can shoot in any of the organized shooting events there.

Thanks for input, I really like the FOP range in Pleasant Grove, and I was giving thought of applying for membership if I thought that I would go at least once a month. In the last several months I have had to stay fairly close to home because of my wife's health. I can shoot darn near anything here at my house, but what I wanted to do is work with my 13yr old grandson on long range shooting. At age of 10 he was shooting the center out of targets all day with his 22, and now at age 13 he can handle a .270 or 30-06 with ease.
Again thanks for help
