Keep in mind that NJ considers BB guns as firearms.

Cannot help with the rest

Statistics

I would think those statistics would be difficult to compile and for good reason. The chance for abuse, whether intended or no, is just too great.

LIBRARIAN - "No reliable data for any of those questions. The telephone-survey methodology has problems. ..."

You ain't kiddin'! Get this.

Joe Homeowner and his wife are watching teevee after dinner. The phone rings. Joe answers, "Hello."

"Hi, Mr. Homeowner. This is Tiffany with the XYZ Survey and Poll Company. We're conducting a survey about guns and would like to ask a few questions."

JOE- "Oh. Guns?"

TIFFANY - "Yes. Do you own any guns and if so, how many?"

JOE - "Uhhh, guns. Uhhh, no, I don't own any guns. They're dangerous."

TIFFANY - "Oh, good. Okay, thank you. Have a nice night. Goodbye."

Joe hangs up, and resumes watching teevee. On a table by the couch is his Colt Govt. Model .45 ACP.

His wife says, "Who was that?"

Joe answers, "Some girl wanted to know how many guns we own."

His wife says, "Glad you didn't tell them about yours... or mine." They both laugh and watch the end of the teevee show.

I have no doubt whatsoever that scene is played over countless times throughout this country.

As in Leanwolf's senario, I'd certainly never truthfully answer any survey.
It's no one's dang business whether or not I have a firearm.

If anyone had asked my Dad how many guns he owned, he would have said "none" until he was 79, when he bought a Taurus 85 as a home defense weapon, at which point he said "one." It never crossed his mind to count the single-shot 12-gauge he'd had since he was a boy, or the Marlin .22 he'd bought in 1974.

This came out during a discussion about visitors with children, and keeping the revolver out of their reach...

I have never participated, and will never participate, on a survey like that. Most gun owners I know would never tell or admit to owning guns to a stranger, much less talk about their arsenal.

Hard to have boating accidents in the desert. However, plenty of unmarked mine shafts that just swallow a quad left in neutral, transporting that days load of target guns.
