Lou Dobbs just went on a pro- 2A tirade on his show. Stunned me as I had no idea he was so fervant on 2A. Nice work Lou.

I agree with many of his opinions. I didn't know he was a supporter of 2A either?

Actually scary story...in short the Feds convicted some guy in WI for transporting a machine gun because his AR15 had a malfunction and went full auto briefly...after 800 rounds of fire....think they said it was an Olympic Arms?

I love Big Lou.

I hope there is more to that story though. The guy was CONVICTED of a felony because his AR doubled.

I think Lou Dobbs is the best thing in broadcast journalism today. He doesn't just bring important ( and often otherwise ignored ) issues to light, he does his best to KEEP them there.

Why is he a poor fellow?[

Not Lou. The subject of his story. A guy in Wisconsin loaned an AR15 to a buddy/potential buyer. Guy ran 800 rounds through it at local range. Gun the went full auto for few rounds, and jammed. Nobody hurt. Couple days later, all hell (ATF, local yahoos, etc) breaks loose over the guy, seize his guns, computers, etc. Gets prosecuted and convicted of illegal transfer of machine gun. Cheese:rolleyes:heads.

LOVED LOU on 2A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was on fire!

Maybe its not to late to get Lou to run on the independant ticket.Good to know that someone is speaking out on gunny's behalf on the TV and radio media!

For anyone who doesn't know/isn't familiar with the platform...

AR-15 has a floating firing pin. No spring. No nothin'.

Bolt goes closed on a round, it gets a cute widdle dimple in the primer.

If it isn't a mil-spec primer, sometimes it goes kerflooey/kerbangy/ker-oh-bleepy.

And if you don't keep your boomstick clean, sometimes the firing pin floats to the front, and stays there because of crud.

This was exactly what happened in US v Staples. The gun was slam-firing because the ATF used civilian spec primers.

Thinking back to Staples, I am really wondering if the government established the requisite mental state for the conviction or if they just convinced the judge that it was a strict liability crime. I am kind of shocked that his attorneys didn't argue that he didn't know it was a machine gun. if the gun is an AR-15 and only rapid fired when a stranger at a remote location experienced a malfunction, shouldn't this be dismissed before the trial? Staples is not a difficult case to apply. If he didn't know it was a machine gun, you can't sustain the conviction. Period.

I knew about this scienter requirement long before I ever took crim law. Staples is in every single crim law case book and not as a note case either. It is THE case they use to teach scienter. How could his lawyers not have known about it, being criminal defense attorneys? It would be like being a plumber and not knowing how you use flux to make pipes fit together without leaking.

Don't forget Bill O'Reilly. He doesn't seem to be a huge 2A guy, but he deffinitely isn't anti. I've heard him speak (not rant, really) about gun control, and along with most of his other positions on other topics, I like him a lot.

If anyone discovers a link, please post. I have been unable to find one.

This sounds like a guy on arfcom a while back. Does anybody else remember that? is this the same guy?

I have not agreed with a lot of his political and economic rants.

Me too. He really has some opinions that I am at odds with which is why I was completely stunned at this one segment. He also admitted to owning a gun on the show.
