Love my new SA 1911 A1 9mm Target

I just got my brand new SA 1911 9mm Target. It feels great, I think this one is going to be a keeper. The only thing im not too sure about is the two piece guide rod. I have heard horror stories about these flying out. Also the Mainspring has one of those intergral safties, which I will never use.

Should I change these two out or are they acceptable 1911 parts? Also, what magwell would fit this gun easily?

I will shoot it and report tomorrow.

I recently bought a Les Baer 9mm PII. You will love the 9mm 1911. I have some SA 9 round mags and some 10 round Wilson and Tripp Cobra. The Wilsons are performing better for me.

Thanks, which of those parts bettered performance? The SA mags are supposed to run pretty well, I will give those a try first, if not the Wilsons.

Rob covered it excellently. The 2 pcs guide rod can unscrew under recoil. Therefore, look for a GI short rod and plug.

Yes indeed, 1911's in 9mm are the cat's scratch I really love my converted full size Colt in 9mm. A really fun and awesome shooter, accurate and oh so easy to shoot well. It's almost like cheating!

When someone FINALLY understands the market is ripe, ready, and roarin' for a decent priced 1911 in 9mm, they will not be able to make enough of them. Ammo costs alone are a great reason to own one, especially if you don't reload.
