Love those 3" revolvers

I've started to accumulate 3" revolvers in the past year and really like them.

The 3" barrel length seems to me to be a nice middle ground between the 2" snubbies and the 4" service revolvers.

Here's a pic of most of my 3" guns. Clockwise from upper left: S&W 10-5 (Aussie police trade in), S&W 36-1, Ruger GP100 (I have 2 of these in 3"), and Charter Arms Bulldog .44spl.

I only have two, though. A Model 13 and a Model 36, both round butts. They handle real nicely.

Those look good. I came into a 3 incher just by accident and I think that length provides about perfect balance for me. skidder - I have a Security Six in that length and it is a terrific shooter.

I got a couple 3" revolvers not mentioned yet... Ruger SP101, and S&W 317. Both are favorites. The SP101 now has Chigs Cocobolo inserts, and the 317 has a S&W 2 finger boot grip. I need some new pics.

I have a Model 27 in 357 mag but, sadly, it is a 3 1/2 inch barrel...
Still pretty darned handy for a big frame revolver though.
