I've started to accumulate 3" revolvers in the past year and really like them.
The 3" barrel length seems to me to be a nice middle ground between the 2" snubbies and the 4" service revolvers.
Here's a pic of most of my 3" guns. Clockwise from upper left: S&W 10-5 (Aussie police trade in), S&W 36-1, Ruger GP100 (I have 2 of these in 3"), and Charter Arms Bulldog .44spl.
