Lube for full autos

My experience with full auto guns is about zip. I'm curious however about what product, if any, is most popular with the folks who own/shoot full atuos of all types from the Tommy Guns to the BAR's and Ma Duces, to keep them lubed and running sweet.

I think at work we usually use WD40 in addition to what's put on after every cleaning.

WD40!!!!! -- for lube???? No way! It ain't a lubricant. .. and on auto's???

I would think it important to use a good and persistant grease ... maybe a moly or teflon containing type.... well for sliding parts particularly, and maybe Mobil 1 type of oil in other areas. But WD40? I do hope not, other than as an external ''dressing'' if really fond of the stuff!

It seems like RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease) gets top spot for persistence and durability in all the surveys I have seen.

I myself, ignoring what the latest polls/tests show, use something synthetic and on hand, like Brownell's Action Lube, or disc brake caliper grease on the rails and other sliding parts. I also use Breakfree CLP on the other areas.

For my range guns, I tend to keep them "wet", and also clean them often. For my carry guns I use grease rather sparingly and don't overdo it on the oil application.

For what it's worth, using Brownell's Action Lube can get costly over time, so take P95Carry's advice and just find something with moly or teflon and go from there.

I have been told that the M-2HB, M-1917, and M-1919 like 30 weight motor oil...

Probably the same stuff that you use on "regular" guns. I use FP-10 on everything, including my Uzi!

I use Break Free.
On my Sten I just spray some on the bolt. It has never been cleaned.

The military dosen't seem to have any problems keeping their FAs running w/ Break-Free CLP.

I use CLP.
The M16 likes a lot, the MP5 does not need much.

The guys I shoot with use either CLP or WD-40.

They give liberal squirts of WD into the guns before the fun begins. They also spray silicone on the belts of ammo for the M60's, Mini's, HK 21's and M2's
