I came a cross a local listing today , it was for 600 rounds of the Winchester .22 as shown. The seller wanted $25 for the lot. (comes to .041/round) I am always looking to add to the stash at a good price so I jumped on it. I had to ask the fellow - Why was he unloading the Winchester? Turns out that he has been fine tuning & sighting a specific rifle at 50 yards , and the particular round he sighted with is a bit slower than the Winchester ; the latter being about 1" high at the desired range. So , he said , he just had no use for the 600. Good for me!
The first steel plate event of the season at my local club takes place on Monday. Tomorrow I will break out my trusty MkI and practice with the Winchester , and with my old standard of CCI MiniMags. At 4 cents per round I can practice a lot. One or the other will be put to use on the steel plates. I think I got a great deal.
End of gloat.
