LWRC TRICON Rifle Pics

I think the price difference is justified. $800 more is not just for the rifle. Last time I checked, the vertical grips from Tango Down are around $60. The bag that comes with it is easily $80-100. LMT SOPMOD is probably an even trade with the standard VLTOR E-MOD. Comes with a $50 sling. Upgraded trigger group. Hard to put a price on the Ceracote finish, but that's got to be a few hundred bucks. Then, there's the meat and potatoes: the spiral cut ham barrel. LWRC told me it takes them 45min to make one vs. 10min on an ordinary barrel. That's a lot of machine time for one barrel-- plus the R&D that went into the development. Makes the TRICON real nice and light and maneuverable. Money well spent, I think. Some people spend their money on cars and watches or playing Golf. To each his own. No reason to be jealous or hateful. Peace be with you, LemmyCaution. You should get your own TRICON, my friend and change your screen name to LemmyUpgrade. On the subject of optics, I think the FDE ACOGs with RMRs are the deleted -- <Sam> hot fire. Either that or the FDE EOTech, but I'm fond of the ACOGs with back up dots. Peace, amigos! Thanks for the compliments on the rifle. Ignore the hate.

Nice rifle though.

Saw one of these in the local gun store/range and it was $3100-
Stunning rifle and I have probably 8 AR's in various configurations
Lakeside Machine beltfed 22, Shrike, etc. but this one makes them look plain and tired. I almost did more than think about it. Then I saw a SCAR 5.56 on the counter.
If looks was everything I would be flat broke but didn't know anything about these 2 rifles so I passed and came here to check on things.
Man, would I hate to scratch that Tricon

not sure how i missed this thread two months ago. i would have deleted half the posts for insults and non-THR behavior, but since it's been two months, I guess they'll just sit there forever on the public internet as a testimony to the poor behavior of their respective authors.

as for the gun, that's pretty cool, but not the gun for me, as I'm not really a huge LWRC fan, nor a fan of piston ARs. The barrel is cool, but since the OP says it's 14", I presume that it would not be possible to remove the flash hider that one poster pointed out seems desperately out of place on that gun.

would be very curious to see how it shoots. While I haven't had a chance to attend one of the Tricon classes personally, I've heard Jeff is a fan of accuracy.

maybe I've just fallen behind on my reading, but i don't have any idea what most of those specs mean. I'm not familiar with EXO coating. what is NiCorr? What is Camo-Coat? Someone else said cerakote (which I'm familiar with). Are those the same thing? what's an "advanced combat bolt"? and an "enhanced mil-spec trigger"?

I'd also be very curious to see how Jeff holds that gun. Most people who buy the stubby VFG put their hand half on the quadrail and half on the front of the VFG. but you can't do that as configured in the pic since you'd be grabbing the barrel. And the stubby is a bit short to grab it like you're choking a chicken.

one last thing i'm curious about is how they matched teh colors so well. The magpul and LMT FDEs aren't that close. I don't think the tango down FDE is either. Sure looks good though. Seriously... magpul can't even match all their own FDE products together. How did they get 4 different plastics makers (the LWRC rail covers, magpul grip, LMT stock and TD VFG) to match perfectly??

Sighting options? Definitely ACOG.

I second the upgraded barrel device suggestion--think SEI Vortex or AAC Blackout--both with their QD options for a suppressor. I figure if you're going all out...

If you had that thing suppressed, the only things you'd be missing are the Trident and the rebreather.

Flash hider can be changed, I would look for one with teeth or fangs comeing off of it, maybe one that turns the flash itself into a fearsome screaming skull , but then again that wouldn't be a flash hider would it?

In all seriousness I would supress it, especially if thats capable of full auto, (can't tell with my poor eyes but looks like it might be.)

Fpr optics I would definatly gone with larue mounts and an Acog with Magnifier

Awesome tool OP, I envy your good fortune

The Stock and pistol grip are not matched up color wise. If you look closely the pistol grip is lighter and the stock has more red in the hue.

Well I still thinks it looks great and doubt anyone can get all that plastic to match perfectly though for that price tag it ought to be real real close-
For me the permanently atttached flash hider is a deal breaker as I need a QD FH to use my SWR Spec WarII can

It shoots as good as it looks

Just finished a class with Jeff today. He is a great instructor. We have never work this hard over 3 days. He also let some us shoot his LWRC Tricon. It is a great shooter and in my opinion, well worth the extra cash!

I like the barrel fluting.. My M6a2 seems a bit barrel heavy to me.. maybe I should get one of these babys put on when I SBR it... ;) Nice rifle OP...
