M-44 vs. Type 53

The magical UPS fairy dropped off my second T53 today. Wood looks good, deep red color with a few gouges and dings. Metal looks fantastic and the bolt is bright. Haven't had a chance to decosmoline it 100% yet, the barrel seems to be a long tube of pristine cosmoline. Doesn't look any of the cosmo got into the bolt spring area because there was some surface rust.

Over all, I am very very pleased. Stock looks great and the metal is awesome. If you want a good example of a T53, head over to SOG right now and place and order. I'm thinking of getting another one in a week if they are still in stock.

Edit: It's a 1954.10 everything matches but the bolt :(

If you get the oppurtunity OP, I highly suggest a Polish M44.

I, personally, put it next to the Finnish Mosins for quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship.

You'd be hard pressed to find a finer variant.:)

I have 2 type 53's from Century, metal on one looked good, wore on the other with a broken stock. The metal looked better than my '44 91/30 and they shot better to. I would recommend picking one up.

Been pondering picking one up myself once ATI finally releases that one stock of theirs. One of the LGS has a few of them in stock for uber cheap. The stocks on all of them are in terrible shape and have the feel of balsa wood to them.
