Hello everybody. Thank you for allowing me to join your forum.

I have searched everywhere to try to work out the differences between the Smith & Wesson M&P 9c and M&P 9 compact. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the "compact" lists for $150.00 more than the "c". Here is a link to Smith & Wesson's site where I have put the two side-by-side to compare:

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...7954&top=&catentryId=764517&catentryId=770011

You will see that there are lots of missing specifications which makes this comparison feature useless to me, but, perhaps, some of you will see something I don't.

Thanks

I'm thinking there is some kind of mistake on the site. The C stands for compact. Possibly, the more expensive model might have night sights ($150 difference would account for that), but this isn't specified. The actual "street" price for this gun is nearly $100 lower than the MSRP.

Not sure...

The lower priced one is in line with what I'd expect the price to be based on how much I paid for my M&P9 and my M&P45.

I'm guessing that the expensive one either has night sights or it is part of the package deal that includes the extra mag, holster, and mag loader.

Is the barrel on the 9c Melonite treated? Even if not I can't see that being worth $150 difference. The sights are definitely different. Maybe the Compact comes with more mags too?

Looking at the details page, only thing I see is the more expensive one has a Novak rear sight-don't know 'bout the front sights-they read differently, but may be the same thing?

They really did a crappy job of listing details-the cheaper one lists 3 grips, the other says nothing-don't they all come with extra grips? (although I don't know how many). I would surely think the more expensive one would come with as many grips as the cheaper one!
