I recently purchased a M1 Carbine and discovered that the band screw is stripped and messed up. I have purchased a new band with bayonet lug from Amherstdepot but am confused on how to remove old and re-install the new piece. I have removed the front sight but old band will not slid over. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. The gun is a Underwood dated 11-43.
