Where ohh where can I find this part?

On the rear sight that flips up on the M1 Springfield 1903 it has a little elevation slide for adjusting your range and its missing.

This was Grandpa's service weapon in WWII and I would love to replace this part.

What exactly is this part called where do you think I could acquire one?

Thank you for any help very much.

Big Willy

Ohh Korrecsions

OK OK..... I know nothing about this gun, but I'm sure even with a little intelligence you could gather enough information to understand the question.

It seems DMK knew what I was referring to with no trouble.

Thank for correcting me though, as you guys are always looking for mistakes.

Thank's DMK, I did find a site called "hoosier gun works" but the parts they have listed have a very vague description. The link you sent me is great, I googled everything I could think of and never saw that site. Great link.

Thanks

You're welcome Big Willy. Glad I could help. Numrich (sometimes known as E-gunparts) is a great resource for parts. They are sometimes kinda expensive, so try to shop around, but they have probably the most extensive inventory around. Often they have parts nobody else has.

Folks here are kind picky about nomenclature here. (see the thread about clip vs. magazine) :) Sometimes people could be a little more polite about it, but don't take it personally. The overall wealth of knowledge here is higher than many other boards. It's a good place to learn.

Clips Vs. Mags

Funny you mentioned that cuz I did just read that thread a day or so ago. Kinda funny because my father always called them clips when I was growing up, so I sometimes let that slip too. At least I know the difference in technical terms.

I did buy the needed parts (all four) and the total was like 14.00 bucks. Can't beat that since locally they were asking for a lot more than that. I might have bought more than I needed, but ohh well.

Thanks again DMK.

Instead of M1 could it be a Mark 1? Does it have a oblong hole machined into the left side of the bolt raceway?

Sorry about the confution, I Found the parts at DMK's recomended site.

It's for a Springfield M 1903, bolt action 30.06

Thank's for all your help.

Update on the "03"

I thought I would share the photos with you now after the sight is now in place.

Now, notice the LANDMINES in the background........NOT MINE!

LeftSide1903Medium.jpg .

Please let me know if I installed the sight elevation upsidedown or something, the exploded view I have is a little crude.

You guys know your stuff....

Thanks for looking,

Big Willy
