In regards to the basic, 7-round mags for the M1911A1 which manfacturers are recommended?

The only 7 rounder I have is the one that came in the box with my Kimber. the rest are all Chip McCormick 8 rounders. They have performed flawlessly.

I love my Novak mags. They are blued 7 rounders and only cost me $13 and change shipped.

When I got my first 1911, I was told to stick w/ Wilson mags, which I have & I haven't been disappointed ;)

wolff springs

Wolff springs is also selling mags now. Probably a MetalForm in Wolff's clothing :)
But I have 2 of em and they work great flat follower with the dimple, and Wolff mag spring.

In addition to the factory mags that came with my SA Milspec, I have 2-GI mags & a Wilson Combat (8rd) mag and they work perfect. The Military Issue mags feel a little lighter weight but work fine.

I like and recommend Metalform part# 45-273, which is a flush-fitting, blued steel, 7rd mag, with the flat, dimpled follower, and a nice, locking, removable floor plate. I have 15 of these, and they've all performed all functions flawlessly, after a lot of use, and having been stored constantly loaded for a couple of years.

Edit: I thought I might amend that the base of this mag is actually not quite flush. There is a slight curvature to the bottom/exterior surface, which protrudes just enough to help you with seating a mag. It's just enough to allow me to take full advantage of the weld-on magwell on my main carry gun, and also helps a lot with a stock magwell opening.

Colt's, Springfield's, Kimber's, McCormick's, Les Baer's, even those el-cheapo,$5.00, gun show "genuine GI" mags. I must be lucky or something. I've never had a problem with any of them.

If you are asking for specific wartime manufacture 1911A1 magazines I like the ones made by Lovell Manufacturing.

They can be identified by an L stamped on the front of the magazine basepad.
C-L designates Lovell manufactured magazines for Colt Firearms Company.

They are the best of the USGI magazines.

McCormick power mags -- the springs are made by Wolff and they have a metal follower. Never, ever had a problem with them and they are priced less than Wilson.
