I sold my Garand at Knob Creek last week, thinking I'd get an M1A.

Now I miss my Garand and want another one.

Somewhere along the line I was supposed to be equipped to make difficult and challenging decisions like this. Something about growing up.

I have rows and rows of clipped-up 30-06 that look miserable.

Now what do I do? There's a gun show this weekend

Garand! I own both, wouldn't part w/ either, but the M-1A magazine logistics is a bear, they are getting pricey. En bloc clips for .50 cents or less.

duh....................easy!

sell off the .06 (not the clips!) at the gunshow and build yourself up a nice .308 Garand, match barrel and all that good crap

As much as I like the Garand, the M1A is about ten light years ahead in just about every area. Of course, the Garand is cheaper if that is the deciding factor.

20 bucks a mag? No, that's M-16 territory. I got my like new M-14 mags all over a year ago at about 35 a copy, now like new stuff can get around 50 bucks. Not pretty. The stinking factory new 5 and 10 rds are something like 25 bucks from SA. The aftermarket crap is just that. I can make USA AR-15 mags run like a champ, not so with M-14 mags, bodies are too flimsy.

Navy Joe's answer sounds good to me. I'd get the Garand first and hold onto it dearly. Save your ducats for an M-1A later down the road.
