What is the real difference between the three? Mid-length has a longer forarm and the M4 style seems to have a notch in the barrel just in front of the site. Why the notch? And is there a performance difference between the three?
+1The midlength gives you a (slightly longer) carbine length for practicality, and offers easing on the pressure. That means less violent action and less wear. Not as little as the full-length, but it will ease up enough to where you'll notice a better, smoother action. Not to mention it just feels more natural than a carbine - at least to me.
