M48 question

I'll keep it short

I was looking on AIMsurplus, and saw that they had K98 handguards for sale for like 5 bucks. Will these fit on an M48, and if they do, does it look "right"? Would it require any gunsmithing at all?

If you havn't noticed, I might attempt to hack an M48 into looking like a K98, just for the heck of it.

No, if it is a standard K98K handguard, it will be too short. The M48 has a full length handguard, that extends all the way back to the receiver. The K98K has a short handguard that only reaches the rear sight. It is six inches shorter.
