novaDak, in effect, according to the BATFE, what he did was manufacture a new machine gun, and didn't register it as new. As a Class II who had paid for his SOT license, he could make new guns, he just had to inform the NFA. But, he couldn't sell them to the average person,only another SOT with a demonstration request letter from a police agency. I did the lawyer trip today. He wants a $5,000 retainer to begin the suit. Should be interesting.

That's pretty low of him to "destroy" $3000-4000 MAC-11s for the serial numbers to sell $13,000 1919s. However I dout he actually destroyed the MACs, he probably just made them disappear.

The serial number scheme is an old one--with many creative variations--and has been 'worked' by many since 86.
