I've been wanting a fun gun for the range. I have several 1911's that are working guns but I wanted one that was just for pure pleasure. I started with a Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded. I added an Ed Brown beveled magwell and back strap. Next I added a set of Hogue square bottom grips, a Clark 5 1/2" barrel and muzzle brake. I finished it off with a set of Wolff springs.
I am amazed at how little recoil she has and how accurate the gun is. The Clark barrel fit like a glove with no issues. The recoil spring I have settled on is a 13 lb spring. This was a fun project that was only a few hundred dollars to complete and now I have a super accurate 1911 that makes fast follow up shots a breeze.
